Breaking the silence: The Purpose Behind Shielded Voice
In law enforcement and first responder roles, silence is often the norm. We’re trained to stay strong, to hold it in, to “just deal with it.” But over time, that silence isolates us—and it’s costing lives.
Shielded Voices is here to break that silence.
We’re more than a podcast. We’re a movement built on raw, honest conversations about what really happens behind the badge. We talk openly about PTSD, addiction, depression, anxiety, and everything that comes with carrying the weight of the job.
Because being tough shouldn’t mean suffering in silence.
For years, first responders have been expected to suppress their emotions. That pressure has created a culture where vulnerability feels like weakness—and that’s a lie we’re done believing. Vulnerability is strength. Asking for help takes courage.
This podcast exists to remind you: You’re not alone.
We believe in the power of peer support—because no one understands a first responder like another first responder. By sharing real stories of struggle, healing, and hope, we create connection where there used to be isolation.
Shielded Voices is also a tool for education.
We explore the emotional toll of the job, how trauma shows up off-duty, and what real support should look like—from leadership, from training, and from each other.
Most of all, we offer hope.
Hope that healing is possible. That change is coming. And that your story matters—even if it’s messy.
In breaking the silence, Shielded Voices is creating a culture where strength and compassion can coexist. Because your life matters. Your voice matters. And someone out there needs to hear it.

BRIAN:
Co-Host | Expert | Former Law Enforcement Professional
"I’m Brian, a 15+ year deputy with a passion for service, both in and out of uniform. My career in law enforcement has been one of purpose and growth, shaped by the many roles I’ve had the privilege to undertake. As a Senior Defensive Tactics Instructor and Emergency Vehicle Operations Instructor, I’ve helped equip fellow officers with the skills needed to navigate the challenges of the field. My work as a Field Training Officer has allowed me to mentor the next generation, ensuring they approach their roles with confidence and integrity.
Serving as a Grenadier on the riot team and as a Narcotics Team Liaison has brought unique challenges, requiring calm under pressure and a focus on teamwork. Before my career in law enforcement, I proudly served in the United States Army, where I developed a sense of discipline and camaraderie that continues to guide me.
Faith has always been the foundation of my life. My devotion to Christ fuels my commitment to serving at my local church and providing support to my colleagues in their times of need. It’s deeply fulfilling to be a pillar of encouragement for those around me, whether it’s in the midst of a critical situation or during a quiet moment of reflection.
Co-hosting Shielded Voices has been an incredible opportunity to share stories, foster understanding, and tackle the stigmas that impact our profession. My mission is to inspire others—officers, first responders, and civilians alike—through open conversations about the realities we face and the resilience we can build together.
Life isn’t without its challenges, but through faith, family, and fellowship, I’ve learned that we can rise above any adversity. I hope my journey, as shared through Shielded Voices, can be a beacon of hope and strength for others.
